About
Alex Macksoud
Freelance content writer, copywriter and brand messaging strategist. Metro Detroit born, Metro Detroit based, working with clients across the country and occasionally another continent.
The short version
Alex has been writing creative, compelling content for more than a decade. As a freelance content writer and strategist, he tells client stories across whatever mediums the story needs: SEO web copy, blog articles, brand messaging, digital ads, video scripts, social posts, press releases, media talking points, internal communications, sales collateral and ghostwritten executive bylines.
Before going freelance he held a run of agency and corporate roles that blended writing, brand strategy and executive advisory — the useful combination, because it means the copy arrives with a reason behind it. His clients span diverse industries and serve B2C, B2B and nonprofit audiences, which keeps the work honest. What flatters a donor bores a procurement committee.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Advertising from Central Michigan University, where he got his start as a living, breathing writing machine. The machine now has better judgment and slightly worse handwriting.
Born and based in Metro Detroit, Alex balances his work with parenting two toddler boys. He can sing the Paw Patrol theme song on request, and has, at conferences.
How he works
Three things worth knowing before you hire him.
Interviews first
Nothing good comes out of a brief alone. Alex builds a voice profile from interviews and existing writing before drafting, which is why the byline sounds like the person it belongs to.
Strategy attached
Years of brand strategy and executive advisory mean the writing ties back to positioning, audience and a business outcome instead of a word count.
AI in the loop, not in charge
He uses AI tools deliberately for research and pattern-checking, then edits to a standard no model hits on its own. Every piece is screened for machine tells before it ships.
Next step
Say hello.
Retainers, one-off projects, agency overflow. Alex reads every message himself and replies like a person.
